Hydroelectric Plant Control System
Starting from 2019, Gruppo SIGLA - a company of the Relatech Group - has been working on behalf of an important customer in the design of logics for the automation and process control of four hydroelectric plants in Peru, located along the Rimac river. These plants are equipped with eleven generating groups, which together produce a total power of over 500 MW. Thanks to their annual production capacity of approximately 2,755 GWh, more than 450,000 tons of CO2 emissions are avoided.
In addition to the automatic control of the four plants, Gruppo SIGLA dealt with the logic of automation of the hydraulic works of the same, supplying appropriate regulators for the control of the sluice gates of the water and river barriers. The control software was implemented on the ABB AC800m DCS platform, while the SCADA part was implemented on the Symphony Plus Operation system. The new system will allow automatic operation and optimization of the production of the plants which will be supervised from the remote teleconduction post in Lima.
Gruppo SIGLA is currently engaged directly in Peru on all four sites for the commissioning of the systems supplied, as it is now in the last phase of testing which should be definitively completed in June.
